Synopsis
During the Edo period, all sexual relations between men and women other than those between husband and wife were considered adultery. Premarital sex, adultery, double suicide, and rape by monks were all sexual crimes. Despite harsh penalties, including the death penalty, Edo men and women freely enjoyed sex. This film vividly depicts the events that unfolded between a man and a woman who engaged in adultery.
