Synopsis
In Japan during the Meiji era, various private railway networks were engaged in a fierce battle to control the development of the railways. Against this backdrop, engineer Yasujiro Shima, head of the Kansai Railway Department, and the prodigious but stubborn driver Tetsundo Amamiya both aspired to take the railways to new heights, convinced that the future of the country depended on it.
