After a great catastrophe, the world is divided into small tribes. Each tribe possesses mysterious individuals known as "Powerful Ones," who serve as both offensive and defensive forces for the tribe. For a long time, wars and conflicts between the tribes continued, but these Powerful Ones intervened and made a pact not to invade each other, leading to a period of lasting peace. A century later, a small tribe in the north proclaims itself the "Nation of the Herd," establishes a "nation," and begins subjugating other tribes by force. The tribes are colonized, and their children are taken away. These children undergo rigorous education and training to become "Fighters" of the Nation of the Herd, and are then deployed in battles to conquer the colony.

The Fighters subdue the Sanbu Tribe, which boasts two Powerful Ones, and swiftly defeats the surrounding tribes. During a battle with the Wild Tribe, they capture Garo, a boy with the potential for destruction, and Garo's mother, a Powerful One, and subdue the Wild Tribe. Mo-Hun, the youngest prince of the Land of the Herd and a warrior at the forefront of the conquest war, leads Garo and the Fighters on their quest to conquer the Island of the Beginning. Encountering storms and stranding, they eventually reach the Island of the Beginning, where they encounter the Prime Tribe. Living among these people, who have a completely different way of thinking and lifestyle, on the peaceful Island of the Beginning, Mo-Hun, the Fighters, and Garo gradually begin to change.

Meanwhile, the Land of the Herd succeeds in developing Ancient Power (Explosives), and Prince Kaitan heads to the Island of the Beginning with his army, carrying the explosives. Having set foot on the Island of the Beginning, they launch a war of aggression. The "Those Who Remember the History of the Gods (Simbang)" of the Beginning tribe summon "Gwanegitto (God)" and fight back. And Mo-Hun and the Fighters begin a battle to protect the Primordial Island and the Primordial Tribe against their homeland. On the Primordial Island, a fierce battle unfolds between empire and colony, technology and spirit, invasion and peace, competition and cooperation.
