Just before summer vacation in their third year of middle school, a class is suddenly transported to another world by the goddess Ashera. The 26 students are given statuses that allow them to use skills and cheat abilities to become heroes in the other world. However, the number of students transported is 25—leaving behind Shuu Iori, the boy who had just transferred and wasn't counted.

While his classmates train in the other world to prepare for their battles as heroes, Shuu remains in peaceful Japan, devoting himself to studying the status he was given.
