A Buddhist nun and accomplished magician, Byakuren was sealed into the depths of Makai for her traitorous doings against the local humans, helping youkai when she had promised to exterminate them. After one thousand years, she was freed, and reestablished the Myouren Temple above ground. She quickly became a notable religious figure in Gensokyo.
