Alder is the champion of the Unova region. Alder made his debut in BW034 during a flashback of Trip's childhood. He was battling a Trainer in the middle of town with his Bouffalant as Trip spectated in awe. After the battle, the Champion approached the child and allowed him to pet and feed Bouffalant. He then inspired Trip to train hard when he got older, and the two shook hands.
