An artist and art teacher at Van Rose School. During his student days, he fell in love with the German student Florie Dobelge, but his father opposed the relationship. Florie secretly withdrew, leaving him heartbroken. Unaware of the truth, he believed he had been betrayed. Unable to forget her, he continued painting pictures using Florie as his muse and remained unmarried. He doted on Francis, recognising his talent for painting.
