The Elder was one of the old Kōga soldiers who were under the leadership of the deceased legendary Kurojaki. He has a burning hatred for the Ōu soldiers and everything related to them, since he blames them for Kurojaki’s death and failing their ancient mission. After Kurojaki's death he remains in in the ruins of the Kōga territory until Kurojaki's son and heir to the Koga clan, Tesshin returns.

After confessing to Tesshin that he had deceived him to hate Ohu, he took on the role of caring for the youngest members of Kyoushirou's pack in Koga territory.

In the GDW anime he has the appearance of a strong looking dog and his fur hasn't been burned off like in the manga.
