Abbé Faria

Abbé Faria was a priest of the Holy Church and the mentor of the Count of Monte Cristo. In 1811 he was imprisoned in Chateau d'If under false charges of being a rebel plotting the Italian unification, when in truth it was for opposing the Holy Church. After about ten years of imprisonment in Chateau d'If, it is there that he met Edmond Dantès. He taught Edmond with the help of 5000 books, imparting him with knowledge and wisdom, and even knowledge of the existence of Magecraft and the Holy Church. He grew to consider him like a son, before eventually telling him about the treasure on Monte Cristo island. He is the one who gave Edmond hope, telling him to never give up and to always have hope.
