Yamada Asaemon Fuchi is the 9th rank Asaemon in the Yamada Clan and was chosen to be Tamiya Gantetsusai's assigned monitor.

Fuchi is a rational thinker that has a good sense of judgement in situations and carries a no-nonsense view when it comes to matters that he deems are unscientific, pointless, and illogical. He has great pride as a Yamada Asaemon and does not tolerate anybody speaking disgracefully about the Yamada clan. He is very close with his Asaemon comrades and gives them nicknames instead of using honourifics. Even though the Yamada clan mainly deal with testing new swords and executions, Fuchi preferrs, and has a deep passion, for studying the human anatomy to improve medical science that came with the trade. He whole-heartedly believes that anatomical research would save lives and despises those who thought so little of this study.

Although he was an executioner, after his experience working together with the surviving convicts, Fuchi found that both "crime" and "evil" were entirely different from one another, with Tamiya Gantetsusai as an example. From a scientific view point, Fuchi found that samurai and criminals were not so different since they are structured the same and had a will to live, which was reason enough for the survivors to band together in trying to return home. !~

~! With both him and Gantetsusai badly injured Fuchi musters up the rest of his strength to administer first aid to Gantetsusai instead of himself resulting in him dying. In his last thoughts, Fuchi warns Shugen not to underestimate the survivors since they are not willing to die easily and wishes the best of luck to both his allies and enemies. !~
